ASEAN SYNERGIES IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

Sypnosis

Building up from the success of ASEAN Electrotechnical Symposium & Exhibition 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, the AEI-Mid Term Symposium 2019 aims to further propagate and disseminate the latest updates on the Electrical Installation Standard & Regulations in Buildings amongst ASEAN Countries. Acknowledging that standards is an important driver in improving the value chain, it is a great honour for IEM together with Standards Malaysia to be able to provide an effective platform to drive cross-border flows and mobility of engineering technology and services thus accentuating the linkages in ASEAN countries, positioning ASEAN on the Global Value Chain map.

The ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate- Electrical Installation (AEI-EI), an initiative under the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisation (AFEO), has established technical subcommittees (TSC) to review several key areas under IEC 60364.  The key areas include special location installation, term and definitions, verification and energy efficiency. Hence, the first focus of the symposium is on the latest development and updates on standards and regulations applicable within special locations in low voltage electrical installations across ASEAN.  This is followed by updates on term and definitions, verification of electrical installation and energy efficiency which are championed by technical subcommittee led by Brunei, Thailand and Philippines respectively.

Finally, latest updates on energy efficiency regulations and electrical installation codes in Malaysia will be shared by the respective expert.
