New Technologies for Sewerage Industry & Regulations by SPAN & DOE on Public and Private Sewage Treatment Plant

Date    :           13 Dec 2019 (Fri)

Time    :           8.30am – 1.00pm

Venue :           IEM Penang Secretariat

Topic 1:

New Technology for CCTV Inspection & Pipe Trenchless Rehabilitation

Synopsis:

Do you know what are the technology used in CCTV inspection and pipe rehabilitation work in Malaysia? In this presentation, conventional type of CCTV inspection and their limitations as well as solution to overcome the limitations by using new technology of CCTV inspection will be covered. In addition, technologies of pipe rehabilitation work will be introduced to raise the awareness on the importance of choosing right technology of pipe rehabilitation which is practical and cost effective. Also, speaker Angie Ng will cover on how the new technology can be applied in the existing pipeline to cater for a bigger capacity in terms of design.

About Speaker 1:

Ms. Angie Ng Mook Deng

Ms Angie Ng Mook Deng is an entrepreneur with more than 20 years experiences in sewerage works such as design and build of sewage treatment plant (STP), refurbishment & upgrading of existing STP, sewer line CCTV inspection, high pressure water jetting work, trenchless rehabilitation, pile inspection, manhole detection, Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) and etc. She graduated from University Science Malaysia (USM) in year 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. As a director of I Green Engineering Sdn Bhd (I Green), her vision for the company is to be nationally recognized as a Trenchless Technology Solution Provider.

She is also actively involved in developing company’s expertise by introducing technology which is to enhance sewage system as well as trenchless rehabilitation in Malaysia.  Currently, I Green is actively involved in private and government’s project such as Pakej G12 and Pakej G10 for pipe rehabilitation work under Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pembetungan (JPP), Papan Pakej 1 to design and build Network Pumping Station (NPS) 7, 8 & 9, design and build of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Pulau Indah and so on.

Topic 2:

Sewerage capital contribution and offset procedures for upgrading of public sewerage system and new regulations on private sewerage system by DOE and SPAN

Synopsis:

In view of land limitation in a development and policies of SPAN for reduction of quantity of sewage treatment plants, the government encourages the developer to connect or upgrade the existing sewage treatment plants. In such a case, the developer shall pay sludge capital contribution to SPAN and this can be entitled for offsetting if there is upgrading works involving sewerage systems. This presentation will cover the upgrading works and offset procedures, documentations and scope of works that are entitled for offsetting. Besides, this talk also bring awareness on current regulations by DOE and SPAN on new and existing private sewerage system.

About Speaker 2:

Ms. Toh Geik Hoon

Toh Geik Hoon graduated from University of Science Malaysia with bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in year 2005. She has 14 years of working experience in the industry including planning, design and project management for new, refurbishment & upgrading sewage treatment plants. Besides, she has also involved in registration and upgrading for private sewage treatment plant to fulfil SPAN and DOE’s requirements. She is currently Design Manager at One V Project Management & Consultancy Sdn Bhd, leading a team of design engineers to strategize for your needs in sewerage industry.

Topic 3:

Moving Bed Bioreactor (MBBR) system in Sewage Treatment Plant

Synopsis:

MBBR technology utilizes submerged and larger surface area to allow for microorganism (bacteria) attached in a biological process. It is suitable in removing ammonia through Nitrification process in a wastewater treatment system and at the same time reducing the footprint of the Sewage Treatment Plant. It is a cost-effective solution for upgrading existing STP with MBBR technology.
