Synopsis
Civil and structural project consultants are normally entrusted by the Developers to propose and submit sewage treatment plant (STP) design and drawings to IWK, and sometimes to SPAN if it involves appeal case. However, STP design is a specialized subject which requires competency and knowledge in biological and mechanical process besides civil engineering knowhows. Understanding the engineering technology, statutory guidelines and procedures are, however, important in ensuring good design, speedy approval and steady performance of the plant. Therefore, many civil and structural consulting engineers normally refer to specialist STP contractor to propose STP system in the planning stage and carry out design and build during in the building stage.
This talk will guide you through the procedures of planning considerations, design technique and requirements, submission and approval criteria, submission and other statutory requirements, construction, testing and commissioning, C.C.C. and handing over to IWK. Different types of STP will be discussed and demonstrated. The speaker will also share his experience in problems related to plant defects and plant failure.
This talk will benefit the civil and structural consultants in gaining better knowledge to monitor the design understanding, approval process, construction adequacy and performance of the plant to safeguard the interests of the developer and the public, and to ensure timely completion and handing over to the authority.
