Synopsis

Prestressed concrete is design based on the requirements of international standards acceptation of TR43 and BS 8110. Prestressed concrete design is prevalent nowadays compared to conventional reinforced concrete system because of the greater structural strength, higher durability, better deflection control and material saving.

Fundamental principal and application of prestressed will be presented to give a picture on how a building can be constructed in an economical way. In fact, prestressed concrete design can be applied in designing deep beam, transfer beam and transfer plate system, soil strengthening, shallow & deep foundation system and etc. The technology of prestressed is then widely used in construction of shopping mall, hotel, high-rise serviced condominium, roads, bridge, railway and etc. Besides that, Mr Cheah will share the methodology and working sequence of prestressed concrete system in this seminar.

 

About the Speaker

Mr. Cheah Yong Chean

B.Eng (Civil Engineering), Grad. I.E.M

 

Mr. Cheah is a graduate member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University Malaya. He has more than 20 years of experience in project management and site supervision for medium to high-scale project development and also infrastructure works. He has gained design experience in structural, infrastructural, and geotechnical aspect during his past working experience in consultancy office for 20 years. 

He is very determined in site supervisory procedures, documentation for ISO implementation and cost study on project budgetary for successful and timely completion of project. His specialties are civil and structural construction management and contract administration for high-end commercial, residential development and infrastructures.

Currently, he is a managing director in SIS Integrated Sdn. Bhd and holding this position since year 2010.
