Synopsis
Topic 1:
Standard Specification of Material for Cladding & Other Building Accessories
Rapid improvement of global logistics has allowed for a more connected world, and consumers are now spoilt for choice, building material is no exception. Contributed by this fact, we now find ourselves looking at a gazillion of brochures for a simple product but knowing very little about how to choose the right one. Eventually we will be paralysed by all the information and make judgement only based on convenience and luck.
Through this seminar, we are diving into specifications and usage of coated steel in a building, as well as other building accessories and aim to equip you with a formula to ask the right questions.

He is actively involved with professional bodies such as Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and government bodies such as Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) in conducting technical seminar regarding coated steel for metal roofing, wall cladding and light weight structural steel application.
Synopsis
Topic 2: In search of the new normal – appropriate solution in designing and building a 3D cone-shaped roof in a remote location without land access location
Projects in Sarawak is commonly challenged by its logistic constraints, both in term of supply and delivery. Its long coastline also means that many developments may have to deal with a more corrosive environment.
Tanjung Manis Deep Sea Fishing Port is located at the estuary of Batang Rajang. It is a new Port facility developed at a green field before land access is fully established.
We are discussing the process of design and then build a coned-shaped roof (structure and roof covering) which cover the control tower of the Port. We will detail the challenges faced in the design and planning phase of the coned shape roof using the “normal” approach. In search for an appropriate solution, we decided to abandon the “norm” and that lead us onto a path to arrive at a new “normal” solution, meeting the need of the project.

Taking his passion further, he left KTA (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd as Associate Director and founded EcoSteel Sdn Bhd, with the vision of bridging the gap of manufacturers, contractors and the building professionals and to promote the use of steel in general and light weight steel specifically in-built environment. EcoSteel established its name with the ability to apply appropriate solution in steel building constructions.
Currently, other than being involved in the operation of the company, he also devoted time for and to support R&D efforts in various Universities, here and abroad. He is also actively involved in the Malaysian Cold-formed Steel Institute (MyCSI) promoting the application of cold-formed steel in Malaysia. He is also sits on the Working Group currently drafting the Malaysian Standard for the design of cold-formed steel.
