Synopsis
This topic provides an overview of the design and construction of concrete segmental box girder (SBG) bridge. During the talk, the advantages and limitation of the precast and cast in-situ segmental box girder bridge will be explained. Besides, the fundamental and design consideration of the concrete segmental box girder bridge will be highlighted. The typical prestress and steel reinforcement details for SBG and their erection method will be explained. The types of temporary work involved in the erection of the segmental box girder erection or construction will be highlighted.
Biodata of Speaker
Ir. Low Hin Foo
B.Eng (Hons) Civil, CEng MIStructE, MIEAust CPEng, MIES, MIEM PEng, ASEAN Eng, APEC Engineer, IntPE(MY)
Ir. Low Hin Foo graduated from University Malaya with an Honours degree in Civil Engineering. Since then he has almost 20 years of design and construction experience in various types of bridges, as well as prestressed building structures both locally and abroad. He was the Technical Manager for prestressing specialist contractor, BBR Construction Systems (M) Sdn Bhd; and he is currently the Principal Engineer of OSD Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd as well as the Group Managing Director of OSD design group in Malaysia, and the Managing Director of the bridge consultancy firm OS Alliance Pte Ltd in Singapore.
Ir. Low has vast experience in the design and construction of long span bridges using precast and cast in-situ prestressed segmental box girder (SBG) and he is familiar with the design of integral bridge with prestressed girders made continuous. Besides, he has huge design experience in the design of prestressed structures for large commercial projects and high-rise towers, particularly in handling the design of prestressed flat slab or flat plate systems with irregular column grids, including prestressed transfer plate and raft foundation.
He is currently working with Monash University Malaysia on a research project on prestressed transfer plate and transfer slab. He is also actively involved in the training of engineers and undergraduates by conducting courses on prestress designs, design of bridges and prestressed buildings.

- Registered member participant shall attend the seminar himself/herself personally. In the event a representative has been sent to attend, the representative must be a member of the same grade, otherwise the difference in registration fee must be paid before admission is allowed.
- Attendance by representative will not be issued with the Certificate of Attendance.
- Participants are to login with FULL NAME as verification of Attendance for the whole duration of the event.
- Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- If fail to attend the event, the fee paid will not be refunded.
