Synopsis

Session 1 :

Basic Principles of Mechanical Grooved Joints

This session provides a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical grooved joints in terms of Pipe and Groove, Gasket, Housing and Fasteners. Upon completion of this presentation, each participant will understand the history of the grooved joint, the anatomy of a grooved joint, recognizing different types of coupling, the performance capacity of a mechanical groove joint and the design benefits of a grooved mechanical system.

Session 2 :

Accommodating Pipe Movement / Noise & Vibration Attenuation

This session introduces the generation mechanism of thermal movement in piping system and provides a solution package of utilizing Victaulic mechanical groove joint. Also, an introduction of noise & vibration attenuation by utilizing Victaulic flexible couplings. The purpose of this presentation is to provide each participant with the knowledge and skills needed to select proper solutions from compensating piping movement, as well, understanding the benefits of using Victaulic flexible couplings for vibration attenuation.

Session 3 :

Riser Solution

This session provides a bird view of Victaulic piping movement design capacity both in vertical and horizontal piping systems.  Upon completion of this presentation, each participant will understand how to manage the piping movement both in riser and horizontal by utilizing Victaulic flexible couplings also develop the capability to optimizing piping system design.

About the Speaker

Mr. Darien Phan graduated from the Tenaga National University, Selangor, Malaysia with a Degree in Bachelor of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (2003). Darien is currently the territory manager of Victaulic in Malaysia and Cambodia, very much focusing on piping joint systems and solutions. He has 17 years of working experience in the technical applications and solutions, 7 years in factory and building automation industries while the current 10 years in construction buildings.

As a Victaulic technical sales specialist, he is responsible to change the market from traditional methods of pipe joining to more advance, efficient and reliable joining methods to reduce the reliance on skilled labors.

He had conducted numerous seminars to M&E consultants, fire contractors and building owners on topics related to mechanical piping systems such as Fire Protection, ACMV, Plumbing, Process Pipe, etc. In addition, his insight experience and hands on work in project sites including exchanging knowledge with engineers and laborers further complements his wonderful career.
